It is time to save electricity with Linen Logon and our Down Duvet Range! (But here's some more tips anyway):

When Eskom were granted the nominal 24.8 % tariff increase for 2010/2011, we all just felt quite powerless, really. Knowing how to save and where to save electricity has not only become a 'green' conscious thing, but very much a necessity. Now, apart from ditching the electric blanket for our lovely down duvets, (click here for our range) here is some simple tips on not giving Eskom too much money: Minimize Phantom Loads: The term 'phantom load' refers to the energy that an appliance or electronic device coonsumes when it is not actually turned on. In the average home, 75 percent of the electricity used to power home electronics is consumed while the products are turned off. Solution: Plug them out of the wall socket when you are not using them. Use More Energy-efficient Appliances: So, it's finally time for a new fridge, dishwasher and microwave. Rather than buying the first best thing, shop around for 'green' options. There's loads on the market. Change your Light Bulbs (by now, I hope all of us have done so!) Conserve Water: Especially the warm water. Water heating is the third most energy consuming function in the home. Solutions: Take faster showers, be conscous of the water you use when washing dishes, clothes and preparing food.
